Three police officers attached to Busia border have been arraigned before the Anti- Corruption Court on charges of Abuse of office, Aiding a prisoner to escape and Conspiracy to defeat justice.
The trio identified as AIP Kali Godfrey, No.48527, CPL Owiny Peter and No. 47882, CPL Odul Oscar who took plea on Tuesday, 6th January, 2026 were remanded until 21st January 2026.
According to the State House Anti-Corruption Unit that carried out the arrests, the trio between 22nd and 23rd December 2025, being employed as police officers attached to Interpol and terrorism tactical at Busia customs office abused their authority and did an arbitrary act when they aided the escape of Kasule Najib, a suspect who had been intercepted at the Uganda- Kenya border.
Kasule Najib is a key suspect in a gold scam being investigated by SH-ACU where an American National was defrauded over USD 840,000.
