LIRA CITY

Lira City Comedian and Minister Betty Amongi’s campaign agent’ body has been found dumped at Boroboro swamp following his abduction on the night of 4th January, 2026.
This was revealed today, Thursday, January 8, 2026, by Minister Betty Amongi Akena, UPC Lira City Spokesperson Fred Walter Minyang, and UPC Lira City Chairperson Simon Opio Okaka.
The trio officially confirmed with grave concern that comedian Solomon Odyek (Ajoka Alango) was found dumped in Boroboro Swamp, Lira, on Wednesday night following his abduction.
The leaders strongly condemn this criminal, inhumane act, describing it as a serious threat to public safety and human rights within Lira City. They have demanded immediate and through investigation by security agencies to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police in Lira City launched investigations into the mysterious disappearance of the 33-year-old comedian early his week.
Neighbors found his home in Ireda Shamba Cell ransacked on Jan 5th with signs of a struggle and his phone, laptop, and camera gear were missing.
Betty Amongi, the Gender Minister and Lira City Woman MP candidate on the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) ticket, said Odyek was part of her media team and described his disappearance and now death as suspicious.
“Ajoka Alango has been working as part of my media personnel. Given the current political environment, we strongly suspect that his disappearance could be politically motivated,” Amongi said.
Police cautioned the public against speculation, describing the case as a disappearance with possible aggravated robbery.
