NRM’s Geoffrey Natubu has been declared the winner of the Bududa District LC5 chairperson race following a landslide victory. The results were announced by Bududa District Returning Officer, Stellah Byenkya, on Friday at around 3:00 a.m.
Natubu polled 32,477 votes, defeating his closest rivals Benjamin Kimaswa, who garnered 6,537 votes, and Fred Wafula with 5,614 votes. He pledged to serve as a people’s servant rather than a boss and called for calm and unity among residents as he prepares to steer the district toward development.
Meanwhile, in Mbale District, NRM’s Tonny Wamagale secured the LC5 chairperson seat with a commanding victory. Wamagale received 48,496 votes, beating independent candidates Mafabi Muhammed (incumbent) with 13,472 votes and Namaasa Alfred with 10,266 votes. Other people in the race were Wamboga Ratifu of NUP (1472 votes), Nedege Faraida of FDC (484 votes) and Wamanga Saidi (PFF) – 368 votes.
Elsewhere in the Bugisu sub-region, Emma Bwayo (NRM) won in Namisindwa District by defeating incumbent Jackson Wakwaika, Alex Nabende (NRM) was declared the winner for Sironko District, and Wananzofu Simon Peter, (NRM) won in Bulambuli District. In Manafwa District, Kigai Hosea Kimono emerged victorious.
