BUTEBO
A serious accident occurred in Butebo District on January 25, 2026, at around 7:30 pm, involving a white Toyota Hilux (UG 4512C) driven by Mwebaze Polycarp, 42, a Mukiga and resident of Butebo.
According to Fredrick Kyempasa, the Bukedi North region police spokesperson, Polycarp, who is also the DISO Butebo, was heading to Butebo from Kachomo when he lost control of the vehicle, which swerved off the road and hit an incomplete commercial building near St’ Paul S.S.
He says the vehicle and building were damaged. Polycarp was rushed to Butebo Health Centre IV for medical attention.
Kyempasa also adds that police are investigating the incident, and the vehicle is being towed to Butebo police station.
