The National Identification & Registration Authority has given an update providing a WhatsApp number that Ugandans can use to access status updates on their National ID notices of application readiness and pickup places.
In a statement issued on Thursday, February 5, 2026, NIRA says despite having printed over 7 million IDs, only 1.5 million have been picked and yet their offices are open in all districts.
“While we continue printing and dispatching cards, we encourage applicants to visit respective district offices to pick their cards,” reads NIRA statement.
The Authority promises better feedback platforms basing on the feedback it has gathered from the public. This now includes WhatsApp NO. 0766 501071 where Applicants share their application ID for status up date.
