KAMULI
Two police officers have been attacked by unknown persons on the night of February, 5th,2026 along the Busota–Kisozo Road in Naiboa Village, Kamuli District.
The Busoga North Police Spokesperson, SSP Samson Lubega confirmed the incident that occurred to the two officers and strongly condemned the action of the persons behind the heinous act.
“The Police in Kamuli regrets to announce the tragic death of two of its officers following a suspected murder incident that occurred on the night of 5th February 2026,” says Mr Lubega said.
The deceased were identified as AIP Nambafu Peter, the Officer in Charge of Kiyunga Police Post, Kamuli Central Police Station and an Election Special Polling Constable (ESPC) Bakali Mwanje, aged approximately 26 years, attached to Kiyunga Police Post.
Mr Lubega said the two officers were riding on a motorcycle unarmed when they were attacked.
Mr Lubega said preliminary findings indicate that on the said date at around 9:00PM, the two officers left Kiyunga Police Post riding on a motorcycle, heading to the residence of the Officer in Charge.
“At approximately 11:00PM, information was received indicating that the bodies of the officers had been discovered along the road,” Mr Lubega said.
Police responded promptly, and relevant exhibits were recovered and secured for investigative purposes. Initial observations suggest that the officers sustained fatal head injuries consistent with a criminal attack.
“We strongly condemn this cowardly act and extend our deepest condolences to the families, relatives, colleagues, and friends of the deceased officers. We recognize the pain and loss caused by this incident and assure the public that all necessary efforts are being undertaken to ensure accountability,” Mr Lubega said.
He appeals to members of the public who may have information that could assist with investigations to cooperate with the police by reporting to the nearest police station or contacting security authorities through official channels saying such information will be treated with confidentiality.
By press time, the bodies had been taken to Kamuli-Mulago hospital.
