MBALE CITY
Parents and pupils who sat 2025 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) at St. Joseph Musoto Primary School located at Industrial city division in Mbale City are stranded after allegedly failing to access their results, weeks after they were officially released by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB).
According to Ms. Angella Glades, a resident of Green Pasture Village in Musoto and a single mother, her daughter sat PLE but since results came back she has made several attempts to obtain the results from the school in vain.
She told the media that, the delay has left many families anxious and uncertain about their children’s academic future.
“Since the results were released, we have tried several times to get them from the school and through sending messages using index numbers, but we have not succeeded. We are appealing to the media to help us,” Ms. Glades said.
She further noted that the only results reportedly available at the school are for six candidates who sat under the Special Needs category, while the rest of the candidates’ results remain inaccessible.
Ms. Glades expressed deep concern about her daughter’s future, saying she struggles to educate her child through loans and sacrifices.
“I am worried as a single mother. I educated my child by acquiring loans, and now I don’t even know whether she passed to join secondary school,” she added.
Parents also claim that efforts to seek clarification from the head teacher have been unsuccessful, alleging that he has not responded to their inquiries.
The affected families are now calling upon government and relevant education officials to urgently intervene and clarify the matter to avoid further anxiety and disruption to the pupils’ transition to secondary education.
When contacted, Stephen Washaki, the school’s head teacher, referred us to the City Town Clerk.
Mbale City Deputy Town Clerk, Hasoho Jolly when contacted on phone by our reporter, promised to give a comment later which she didn’t after repeated calls.
Hamuza Banja, the Deputy Resident City Commissioner, Industrial City Division says that UNEB suspected that the school was involved in malpractice during examination.
He adds that UNEB has summoned the candidates and school leaders to go and give explanations such that their results may be released.
