Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited, (UEDCL) has placed Greater Masaka region on load shedding for a period of seven days.

The announcement was made by Jonan Kizza, Head Corporate and Stakeholders Affairs today, Friday, February 20, 2026.

Kizza says the load shedding that took effect on Tuesday, 17th February, 2026 affecting Masaka City, Ssembabule, Mitala Maria, Kyotera, Rakai, Lyantonde and Kalungu districts will run up to 28th February, 2026 from 7:00PM to 11:00PM.

The load shedding according to Kizza is caused by supply constraints from UETCL because of the ongoing refurbishment and maintenance works at the Masaka West 132kv Substation.

UEDCL advises customers to ensure that all electrical appliances and production lines are disconnected and power sources turned off until power supply is fully restored after every load shedding.
