NAMISINDWA
A political dispute in Namisindwa District has escalated after Hon. Musila John was served with a demand notice seeking Shs 50 million in damages over alleged defamatory statements made on radio.
According to a letter dated February 20, 2026, from Luchivya & Co. Advocates, the law firm is acting on behalf of Mr. Sakwa George, who contested for the position of Member of Parliament for Bubulo East County in the recently concluded elections.

The lawyers accuse Hon. Musila of making defamatory statements against their client during a radio talk show, Elgon Baraza, which aired on Elgon FM on January 24, 2026, between 10:00am and 1:00pm.
In the demand notice, the lawyers allege that Hon. Musila claimed that Mr. Sakwa had conceded defeat through an SMS message and had left the country for the United States of America immediately after the elections. The notice further states that the remarks suggested Mr. Sakwa had abandoned his supporters following his loss at the polls.
However, the lawyers maintain that their client neither sent congratulatory messages nor travelled to the USA after the elections. They describe the statements as “demeaning and defamatory,” arguing that they have injured Mr. Sakwa’s reputation, especially considering his active involvement in politics and his future political ambitions.
Luchivya & Co. Advocates are demanding that Hon. Musila issue a public apology on the same radio station and pay Shs 50,000,000 within five days of receipt of the notice as compensation for alleged reputational damage.
The letter warns that failure to comply will result in legal proceedings being instituted against Hon. Musila.
This is the second time the MP is served with similar notice over recklessness and defamation. The first time he was served by former MP Simon Mulongo.
By press time, Hon. Musila had not publicly responded to the allegations contained in the demand notice.
