The Chief Magistrate’s Court at Buganda Road has today, 10th March, 2026 committed Bishop Turyasingura Reuben to the High Court for trial on charges of homosexuality while HIV positive.

Chief Magistrate, Ritah Neumbe Kidasa made the decision following directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Prosecution alleges that Turyasingura, a Bishop of Serenity Foundation Ministries and a student at Cavendish University, committed the offence against a 21 year old barber identified as Kato Isaiah, a resident of Kikulu Zone in Kawempe Division.

According to the prosecution, the accused was a regular customer at the victim’s salon and later convinced him to start offering salon services from his home at a higher pay.

It is alleged that on December 28th, 2025, the victim escorted the accused to his residence in Kikulu Zone after meeting at Kitaka Stage in Kawempe.

While at the house, the accused allegedly proposed a sexual relationship and promised the victim 20 million shillings, but the victim declined.

Prosecution states that the accused then forcefully performed a sexual act with the victim after locking the bedroom door.

The victim later reported the matter to Kikaya Police Station before the case was transferred to Kira Road Police Station for investigations.

Medical examination reportedly found the victim with waist pain and injuries, while the accused was also examined and found to be an adult of sound mind and HIV positive.

Turyasingura has been remanded to Luzira Prison until the High Court schedules the case for hearing.
