The police in Iganga are investigating an incident of death by drowning of an 8-year-old juvenile.

The minor drowned in Tembo factory water Dam on Tuesday the 10th of March 2026 during morning hours.

The factory is located at Ngangali Village, Bulowoza Parish, Bulamagi Sub County in Iganga district.

ASP Michael Kasadha, the Busoga East Regional Police Spokesperson, said the deceased identified as Elukana Nakale is a son to Moses Luba 60, a machine operator at Tembo steel factory and a resident of the same area where the factory is situated.

A similar incident occurred on 3/02/2026, when a 10 year old Munghebi Samuel allegedly drowned and died in the same dam.

Police cautioned the factories, organisations, institutions of learning and members of the public against the negligence of infrastructures like dams, reservoirs, and ponds, as they pose significant threats to communities. Negligence in maintenance and management can lead to loss of lives, and the managers are legally liable.

Erecting fences or barriers to prevent unauthorized access to such infrastructure can serve better for purposes of safety.
