KAMPALA
Police at Matuga have recovered a rifle that was stolen during a robbery at Stabex Fuel Station in Namakonkome on 09/03/2026.
According to SP Rachael Kawala, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, the firearm was taken from a security guard attached to Knight Security who was on duty that night.
Kawala says the gun was recovered on 22nd March 2026 at about 11:00 AM in Namakonkome, Matugga, Gombe Division in Wakiso District.
Preliminary findings indicate that a resident of Namakonkome Cell discovered an object resembling a firearm while working in her garden. She promptly notified the authorities, leading to the successful recovery and safe custody of the weapon as an exhibit.
Kawala says efforts are currently underway to apprehend the suspects and bring them to justice.
