A mysterious fire has gutted a dormitory at Elgon Junior School, located in Mutufu Town Council, burning all the pupils’ property into ash.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, 25th March, 2026 while children were in class, destroying books, pens, clothes, mattresses, and other belongings.
Ivan Wagidoso, the school’s director, says they’re unsure where the fire started, noting that electricity had been switched off at the time.
He says this isn’t the first such incident, revealing a similar fire occurred three years ago, causing millions in losses.
Sironko District Police Commander, Frank Muzoora confirms the incident, stating police are investigating the cause.
He says no pupils were injured as they were in class when the fire broke out.
