Police has arrested a driver for allegedly transporting a passenger assumed to be his conductor on the Omni-bus roof carrier along Mbarara-Masaka Highway on Tuesday, 7th April, 2026.
According to SP Michael Kananura, the Traffic Police Spokesperson, the unnamed driver of Commuter Taxi registration No: UBL 756C was arrested today, Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
The arrest follows a widely circulated social media video footage showing him transporting a passenger in a dangerous manner, putting lives at risk.
He says the driver was tracked down, intercepted and is currently detained adding that appropriate charges have been preferred against him and will be arraigned before court soon.
“We commend the individual who shared the video as such actions greatly support enforcement efforts. We urge members of the public to continue reporting similar traffic violations whenever they occur. This collective vigilance helps deter reckless behavior & promotes discipline on our roads,” says Kananura.
