Heavy Windstorm Ravages Small Aircrafts at Entebbe International Airport

Airport users are counting loses after a heavy windstorm suspected to be a cyclone hit part of Entebbe International Airport ravaging some property including cars and some small aircrafts. The tragedy occurred on Friday morning, April 10,2026.
Sources at Entebbe International Airport, told us that several aircrafts were left damaged while vehicles parked at the airport had their windscreens broken beyond detection.
The source also shows that two small aircrafts including Airserve and another yet to be revealed have been overturned.
Entebbe International Airport is situated at the Entebbe penisular. It is also along the shoreline of Lake Victoria, a water resource that severally undergoes the striking of lightening, thunder and cyclone attacks.
UCAA Reacts on the Weather Incident
However, when this reporter approached Vianney Lugya Mpungu, the Manager for public affairs at the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority, he confirmed the incident adding that he was not sure of any damages on the parked cars at Entebbe International Airport.
He went on to explain:
“On the morning of Friday, April 10, 2026, strong winds were experienced in the vicinity of Entebbe International Airport. The adverse weather impacted a light aircraft, which was parked on Apron 04. No one sustained injuries,“ Mr. Lugya explained.
Technical teams are assessing the situation in liaison with the key stakeholders. Scheduled flight operations were not affected by the incident.
