National Environment Management Authority, (NEMA) has halted illegal operations and dismantled structures of an unauthorized vehicle washing bay operating within the riparian zone of River Nabuyonga at Busamaga Bridge, Bufumbo Sub-county in Mbale District.
The enforcement action took place today, Tuesday, April 14, 2026, followed public concerns about activities along the riverbank, which were found to be in violation of environmental regulations.
“All washing bay activities have been stopped, and the site cleared to protect River Nabuyonga from pollution and degradation,” says NEMA.
NEMA has promised to continue monitoring the area and calls on the public to report any environmental violations arguing that protecting our environment is a shared responsibility.
