JUST IN! Magnum Security Guard in Gold Heist Arrested at His Newly Opened Shop

A Security guard attached to Magnum Security Company has been arrested in connection with Shs29M and Gold worth Shs500M theft that occurred on 10th April 2026.

 

According to Police Spkesperson, ACP Kituuma Rusoke’s statement issued today, Thursday, April 16, 2026, Akena was arrested from Gaspa Village in Bweyale Town Council where he was running a retail shop on Wednesday, 15th April, 2026.

 

“We wish to confirm the arrest of Akena Justine, a private security guard attached to Magnum Security Company, in connection with a theft that occurred on 10th April 2026,” says Kituuma.

 

It is alleged that Akena stole a bag containing Shs29M and 900 grams of gold valued at approximately Shs500M from a motor vehicle belonging to one Katuramu Maggie. At the time of the incident, he had been deployed to guard the premises of Goldex Uganda Limited, located along Mawanda Road.

 

Following the theft, Akena reportedly locked up the premises and went into hiding.

 

“On 15th April 2026 at about 2230 hours, the suspect was successfully arrested from Gaspa Village in Bweyale Town Council. Upon interrogation, he admitted to committing the offence,” says Kituuma.

 

Preliminary findings indicate that Akena had used part of the stolen money to open a retail shop, from where he was apprehended.

 

He is currently in custody at Mawanda Road Police Station as investigations continue and preparations for prosecution are underway.
