MBALE CITY

Mbale city police are holding six Nkoma Secondary School students from Northern City Division over aggravated robbery.

Elgon region police spokesperson, SP Rogers Taitika says a viral video showed students beating and robbing a Mbale Progressive student on Monday, 13th April, 2026 prompting police to track down and arrest the six S2 students involved in the crime, one by one.

Taitika says the suspects are currently being detained at Nakaloke (Northern Division Central Police Station) awaiting court appearance today, Friday, 17th April, 2026.

Deputy Resident City Commissioner, Northern City Division, Hamuza Banja, representing the RCC, questions why the suspects’ parents are pleading for police bond, urging them to counsel their children instead, so they grow up responsibly.

He says as Security leaders, they have tried to intensify security in the city by patrolling all streets in town during evening time to make sure that students from different schools don’t clash while going back home.
