Seven people have been confirmed dead and two others severely injured after a Toyota Fielder registration number UA 702DL, rammed into pedestrians at Rusharara in Kabwohe, along the Bushenyi – Mbarara Highway at around 7am on Saturday April 25, 2026.
It’s reported the pedestrians were returning from prayers at St. Rose Catholic Centre and Breakthrough Bethel International Ministries (BBMI) in Kabwohe Town.
The acting Greater Bushenyi Region Police spokesperson, SP- Apollo Tayebwa, confirmed the incident, stating that seven pedestrians died on spot and were taken to Kabwohe Health Centre 111 for post-mortem, while two others sustained severe injuries and were rushed to ICOBI Hospital for urgent medical attention.
At the moment, the bereaved families are waiting for a postmortem report as preparations for burial arrangements are in high gear.
