KAMPALA
The Inspectorate of Government (IG), Office of the Auditor General (OAG), and the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority (PPDA, have jointly approved a five-year Anti-corruption Campaign (ACC), to eradicate rampant corruption in the country on top of strengthening accountability across the public sector.
The approval was made during the Heads of Institutions meeting held on April 27, 2026, at the Inspectorate Headquarters in Kampala City.
The five-year anti-corruption plan is designed to consolidate existing efforts and transform them into a comprehensive, results-oriented national movement against corruption.
Lady Justice Naluzze Aisha Batala, the Inspector General of Government (IGG), lauded the joint team from the three institutions for coming up with a clear and purposeful roadmap to combat corruption.
She noted that the plan sets a firm national direction and will significantly strengthen the fight against corruption across the country.
“It is a very bold plan and I have no doubt it will strengthen our effort in the elimination of corruption,” Justice Aisha Naluzze expressed hope.
The Auditor General, Edward Akol said: “I would like to appreciate the members for this collaboration. It is a very big step in tackling corruption. The anti-corruption plan is timely and will enhance our effort in pursuit for an accountable public service.”
The Executive Director PPDA, Benson Turamye said: “Before this collaboration, institutions used to work independently and we didn’t know each other. But we have achieved a lot and this anti-corruption plan is one of the many achievements that we are celebrating.”
Meanwhile, the meeting was also attended by the Deputy IGG, Anne Twinomugisha Muhairwe, and Secretary to the IG, Rose Kafeero among other attendees.
