Namisindwa District Council has passed a Shs47.9 billion Budget for FY2026/2027. The budget was approved on Wednesday, 29th April, 2026 afternoon during the council’s final meeting held at the district hall.
Martha Muyama Wakweika, the Secretary for Social Services, who also acted as Secretary for Finance and Administration, presented the revised budget.
The education sector received the largest allocation of Shs19.9 billion, followed by public administration with Shs12 billion and health with Shs9 billion, among other key sectors such as roads and production.
However, she expressed concern over what she described as rigid technical staff, accusing them of frustrating the council by failing to implement planned activities.
District Speaker, Dorothy Walukawu thanked councilors for their support throughout her term. She urged the incoming leadership to prioritize recruitment, improve service delivery, and build effective systems.
She also expressed satisfaction that the outgoing council produced key leaders, including LC5 Chairperson-elect, Emma Bwayo, who previously served as Youth Councilor, and Namisindwa County MP, Metrine Musufa, who served as Female Councilor for Tsekkululu and Bungati.
LC5 Chairperson-elect, Emma Bwayo, commended the council for fulfilling its constitutional mandate of passing the budget. He pledged to establish clear systems and enforce strict oversight to ensure value for money, noting that this would greatly benefit the district. He called on all council members to offer full support as the new leadership works to streamline systems.
