An overly jealous Security Guard has killed his girlfriend after severally gun butting her on the head over a phone call.
According to the Police Spokesperson, Aswa West, ASP Ongom David Mudong, the security guard, Okonye Albert aged 37yrs attached to 7 Guidance Security Company assaulted his girlfriend, Akello Barbra Faith on Wednesday, 29th April, 2026 at 11:20PM.
Mudong says that brief facts obtained indicate that, while the suspect and his colleague, a one Jimmy Omara were at their work place at Shine petrol station Layibi branch, the deceased came to check on the suspect.
However, when they met, the deceased received a phone call from unknown man making Okonye suspect that the call could have come from the deceased’s other boyfriend.
An ensuing altercation saw the suspect who was armed with a gun severally hitting the deceased on the head using gun butt, his colleague tried to intervene but the suspect threatened to shoot him. The friend ran away for his dear life as the suspect continued assaulting the deceased before smashing her head killing her instantly.
The suspect later abandoned the gun with a broken butt and fled from the scene but was traced and apprehended.
The Petrol Station manager who was woken up by the chaos outside her room, peeped through the window and saw the body of a woman lying outside the petrol station compound and later called her Boss and the police.
The police on information commanded by the DPC booked out to the scene and was documented by SOCO, exhibits of SMG gun with broken butt was recovered from the scene among other exhibits of forensics importance for investigation.
The deceased’s body was conveyed to Gulu Regional referral hospital mortuary for postmortem as inquiries continue while the suspect is being held at Gulu CPS.
Mudong says that upon conclusion of investigations, the file shall be submitted to the Resident City Attorney for legal guidance before the suspect is produced in court for prosecution.
