The Ministry of Works and Transport has today given car bond operators and dealers along the Nakawa–Banda–Kireka corridor a new ultimatum to vacate the road reserve.

The ultimatum was given in an engagement between the Ministry officials and Car bond dealers today, Wednesday, May 6, 2026 ahead of the planned enforcement to clear the road reserve.

The meeting brought together Uganda Police, UPDF, KCCA, URA, and affected car dealers.

Dealers were given two weeks to vacate the road reserve and remove all structures and vehicles encroaching on the designated area. They acknowledged the directive and committed to comply within the stipulated timeframe, working closely with authorities for an orderly relocation process.

A joint field visit moved to demarcate the road reserve boundaries for clear understanding and compliance.

The Ministry urges all stakeholders to cooperate in protecting road infrastructure, enhancing safety, and promoting orderly urban development.
