Charles Kyagaba, the former Member of Parliament aspirant for Gomba East County who lost in 2011 and 2016 parliamentary elections has been handed 8-year-jail sentence after Entebbe High Court Circuit sitting at Kajjansi Chief Magistrates Court found him guilty on two accounts of obtaining money by false pretense.
The convict who lost the parliamentary race on two occasions turned into a real estate dealer after losing 2016 parliamentary elections but unfortunately has been terrorizing land owners by grabbing their land in areas of Entebbe Municipality, Kajjansi Town Council and Katabi Town Council .
The MP Flop received his 8-year- jail sentence on Monday May 18, 2026, after Entebbe High Court circuit sitting presided over by Justice Karoli Lwanga Ssemogerere, found him guilty of obtaining money by false pretences for selling registered land he did not own.
Prosecution led by Chief State Attorney, Joseph Kyomuhendo and assisted by Janat Kitimbo, Chief State Attorney Entebbe High Court, informed court that the convict and others still at large, had for last couple of years been terrorizing residents of Wakiso District, especially in Entebbe, by fraudulently claiming ownership of their properties and selling them to unsuspecting victims.
On the first count, Prosecution told court that on February 2, 2016 at Zziru village in Wakiso district, the convict with intent to defraud obtained Shs20million from Kizito Ivan pretending to sell him land at Zziru measuring 11.5 decimals.
On the second count, Prosecution informed court that the convict on March 20, 2016, with intent to defraud obtained Shs10million from the same victim, Kizito Ivan, pretending to sell him land at Zziru measuring 11.5 decimals.
During court proceedings, prosecution told court that the convict had no lawful excuse for his conduct.
While sentencing him, Justice Ssemogerere told court that prosecution had discharged its burden, to prove the ingredients of the offence of obtaining money by false pretences c/s 285 of the Penal Code Act, on both counts.
Justice Ssemogerere, said Kyagaba will serve a total of eight years’ imprisonment on two counts of obtaining money by false pretences, but with each count carrying a sentence of four years to be served concurrently. (The actual number of years to be served are 4.)-ED.
