JUST IN: 3 Charged Over Extortion of PDM Beneficiaries in Kalaki District

The State House Anti-Corruption Unit in conjunction with Uganda Police has arraigned before court three Parish Development Model (PDM) on allegations of extorting PDM beneficiaries.

 

The trio identified as Olingo Joseph, Parish Chief of Okungure Parish, Kakure Sub-County, Edwonu James, Chairperson of the Opungure-Kakure PDM SACCO and Ocepa Josphat, Secretary of the Opungure-Kakure PDM SACCO appeared before Kaberamaido Magistrates Court today, Tuesday, 19th May, 2026.

 

They were charged with obtaining money by false pretences and conspiracy to commit a felony and been remanded until 16/06/2026.

 

According to State House Anti-Corruption Unit, the trio, along with others still at large, allegedly obtained money from hundreds of beneficiaries of the PDM initiative in Opungure Parish, Kakure Sub-County, during the year 2024.

 

They did so by falsely claiming they would include the beneficiaries’ names among those eligible for support from the Opungure-Kakure PDM SACCO, which was not the case.
