Veteran Ugandan popular artist, Master Parrot is reportedly dead after being knocked by a speeding motorcycle along the Northern Bypass in Kampala.
It is reported that the fading singer was knocked by a speeding motorcycle while attempting to cross the busy highway on Monday evening on June 1, 2026. He is said to have died on the spot.
The accident reportedly occurred in the Masanafu area along the Kampala Northern Bypass. Police later conveyed his body to Mulago National Referral Hospital.
The news of his demise left his family members, friends and fans in shock and grief. They later gathered and held a vigil at his home in Wabiduku, Kiwatule zone in Kampala City.
Master Parrot, born David Sifayo, rose to prominence in the late 1990s and early 2000s as one of Uganda’s most popular musicians. He gained widespread recognition for hit songs such as Muliro and Kikompola, which earned him a loyal fan base and cemented his place in the country’s music industry.
In recent years, however, the singer had largely withdrawn from the spotlight amid reported personal struggles.
A few months ago, videos circulated on social media showing him in a distressed state, triggering grave concern among fans and fellow artistes. Reports indicated that he had been battling alcohol addiction and related mental health challenges, prompting his mother to publicly appeal for support to help him access rehabilitation services.
Fellow musician Qute Kaye, who has previously spoken about his own struggles with addiction, was among those who called for support and treatment for the veteran artiste.
Despite the challenges, Master Parrot had recently expressed a desire to rebuild his music career and return to the stage after years of hardship.
