Shock and grief engulfed residents of Nansana West Ward in Nansana Municipality, Wakiso district, after unidentified assailants burnt to death David Bukenya who recently graduated from Makerere University. The gruesome incident occurred on the night of June 5, 2026.
Residents say at the time of his death, the deceased had started operating a small business established with support from his parents.
Residents add that they learnt of the incident after seeing huge smoke emerging from Bukenya’s house during the night and swiftly visited the scene to try and put out the fire, unfortunately their rescue efforts never yielded fruits after they found the deceased burnt to death with severe head injuries.
Residents suspect that the yet to be identified assailants could have torched the house to destroy evidence and conceal their identity after inflicting fatal wounds on Bukenya.
Police detectives later visited and examined the scene before transporting the body to Mulago National Referral Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
The Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Police spokesman, Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed the incident, revealing that police have launched investigations into the murder.
