KALONGO, AGAGO DISTRICT

Security authorities have launched investigations after a businessman identified as Mr. Ocana Morris was shot dead by unknown gunmen in a sudden and violent attack along Market Street in Kalongo Town Council, in Agago District on Tuesday, 9th June, 2026 evening.

According to initial eyewitness accounts, the attackers are said to have emerged briefly before opening fire on the businessman at close range in what appeared to be a targeted assault. The assailants fled immediately after the shooting, leaving traders and residents in panic as the busy commercial area turned chaotic.

The incident occurred in one of the most active trading zones of Kalongo Town Council, where business activity is usually high during evening hours. Witnesses described scenes of confusion as people ran for safety and shops temporarily closed following the gunfire.

Security teams were later deployed to secure the area and begin preliminary investigations. Authorities have not yet confirmed the motive of the killing or whether the victim had received prior threats. No arrests had been made by the time of filing this report.

The killing has raised concern among residents and business owners, who say such attacks are rare but deeply alarming in the area, particularly when they occur in public commercial spaces. Community members are now calling for increased security patrols and faster intelligence response to prevent similar incidents.

Police are expected to issue a detailed statement as investigations continue into what appears to be a deliberate and coordinated attack.
