BREAKING! Mob Lynches 60 Year Old Woman for Attempting to Exhume Son’s Body

A Tremor has engulfed Kanyaga village, Kochodong parish, Kidongole Sub County this morning 18th, June 2026 as a 60 year old woman died after a mob attack for attempting to exhume the body of her son.

 

The deceased has been identified as Jesca Akwi of the same village.

 

It’s alleged that on Monday 15th, June 2026, the deceased went to Bukedea town to buy a casket with intention of exhuming her late son John Sale’s body without notice of local leaders and family members.

 

Upon her return, the presence of the procured casket caused commotion prompting the mob attack.

 

Mr. Julius Ochom Oputan, Kidongole Local Council III Chairperson confirmed the incident saying Akwi, the deceased now was rushed to Bukedea health center IV but died upon reaching the health facility.

 

Sources revealed that Akwi wanted to exhume the remains of her son who died 16 months ago.

 

Sale died in February 2025 in a motorcycle accident along Soroti-Moroto road and was buried near his home following the community funeral.

 

Mr. Samuel Oriebo, relative to late Sale said Akwi’s intention to exhume the body of the late left over 200 community residents questioning the motive leading the her attack.

 

Mr. William Wilberforce Tukei, RDC Bukedea condemned the act saying those who will be arrested for taking the law in their hands will be brought to book.
