First Lady and Minister for Education and Sports, Mama Janet Museveni has finally broken silence over her health scare that has kept citizens on toes for months.
Going to her X-Handle for the first time in three months, Janet Museveni who didn’t attend the husband’s swearing in ceremony on Thursday, 25th June, 2026, the First Lady thanked God for saving her life.
“It’s me, Janet Museveni. It is a confirmation that the God I talk about is a living God. He is not a myth, He lives!
I must therefore thank Uganda, beginning with Mzee, who has prayed with the whole nation. I praise God for leading us to know Him. Thank you all for coming out publicly to pray for me.
Thank you for all those continuous prayers and also for the kind birthday wishes. Thank you for letting me know just how much I am loved,” she writes.
The First Lady thanked Ugandans for prayers during her recovery from a critical illness that struck on March 21, 2026.
President Yoweri Museveni had shared on her 78th birthday June 24 that she survived what he called an attack by ‘Sitaane,’ crediting God and doctors, amid months of health rumors.
With her absence, he appointed John Chrysostom Muyingo as acting Education Minister and Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo as acting Foreign Affairs Minister to keep government running smoothly. Supporters like MPs and singer Eddy Kenzo responded with relief and prayers.
Meanwhile, First Daughter Natasha Museveni also took to her X-Handle and thanked God for saving her mother’s life.

Mrs Karugire’s message comes barely a day after First Lady publicly opened up after months of silence, thanking Ugandans for their prayers following her recent health scare.
