Police in Budaka District are investigating an aggravated robbery in which unknown attackers raided a shop and home in Nyanza B Cell, Kamonkoli Town Council, and made off with over Shs7.5 million worth of cash and property.
According to Budaka Police, the incident occurred on July 2, 2026, at around 3:00 a.m. The matter was reported at Kamonkoli Police Station at 5:04 a.m. under CRB 072/2026 by Hamba Azedi, 42, a resident of Nyanza B Cell.
Police say the attackers, who were armed with a gun-like object, pangas, and an axe, broke into Azedi’s shop through the back kitchen door and accessed the bedroom. They assaulted his wife, Nalubanga Sulaina, 21, a shopkeeper, before fleeing with cash amounting to Shs3,200,000, cooking oil, 10 boxes of soap, seven bags of clothes, an ID, and a driving permit. The total value of the stolen items is estimated at shs. 7,500,000.
D/Cpl Martin Mongusho and D/Cpl Okiria of the Criminal Investigations Department visited the scene. Two witness statements have been recorded and the victim was issued Police Form 3 for a medical examination.
ASP Wilfred Kyempasa, the police Public Relations Officer for Bukedi North Police Region, said inquiries are ongoing as police pursue leads to identify and arrest the suspects.
Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious persons to police immediately.
