The Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) has released a shortlist of successful candidates for the ongoing General Recruitment Exercise 2026.

According to a statement issued today, Tuesday, July 7, 2026, by Col Chris Magezi, the Acting UPDF Spokesperson, the lists are available on the official UPDF website (www.updf.go.ug) and at all respective City and District Headquarters. Applicants are encouraged to check their names and confirm their status.

He says UPDF extends sincere appreciation to all Ugandans who applied but did not make it to the shortlist.

“Your willingness to serve your country reflects patriotism and discipline, values the UPDF holds in the highest regard. We encourage you to continue preparing for future opportunities to serve,” writes Magezi.

Magezi says the shortlisted candidates will now proceed to Phase Three (Physical Recruitment), which will commence soon at their respective Cities and Districts.

He advises the shortlisted candidates to prepare the required documents and materials in advance which include;

Handwritten application bearing recommendations from LCI, 11, 111 and GISO/DISO.

Original National Identity Card/NIN.

Original and copies of academic documents. Graduate documents must be certified.

Three (03) coloured passport-size photographs.

The specific dates and schedules for Phase Three will be communicated in due course through official UPDF channels.

Magezi reiterates that recruitment into the UPDF is free of charge and therefore no agents or intermediaries are involved.

“Any cases of fraud must be reported immediately to the nearest Police Station, DISO’s office, or UPDF unit,” he says.
