IGANGA: Security Guard Arrested in Connection with Murder of Boda Boda Motorist

The police in Iganga have apprehended a 19-year-old security guard in connection with the murder of a bodaboda rider.

 

The suspect who was arrested today, Saturday, July 11, 2026 has been identified as Kirya Edrine Shakul, attached to Centurion Security Company, and a resident of Kiyunga Village, Kisozi Subcounty in Kamuli District.

 

Busoga East Regional Police Spokesperson, ASP Kasadha Michael said the incident occurred on the 10th/July, 2026, at 11:00pm in Bugabwe Village, Nakigo Sub County, Iganga District.

 

The deceased has been identified as Mulwana Nuraini, approximately 20 years old.

 

According to preliminary findings, the deceased visited a supermarket where Kirya was stationed on guard duty.

 

Kirya requested the deceased to leave however, his plea was disregarded. Subsequently, the deceased allegedly engaged in a verbal confrontation with the security guard, which prompted Kirya to discharge a single bullet that struck Mulwana Nuraini in the lower jaw, resulting into death.

 

A case file for murder by shooting has been registered at Iganga. The body was transported to Iganga Hospital mortuary for postmortem.

 

The suspected killer weapon, a Legacy Sports Reno NV 12 CA/MAGNUM (3″) Ersus, was recovered along with three rounds of live ammunition.  One cartridge casing was also retrieved from the crime scene.
