Motor Cyclist Knocked Dead Along Iganga-Tororo Highway in Bugiri district

The traffic police in Bugiri are conducting an investigation into a fatal traffic accident that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist this morning the 23rd of July 2026 along the Iganga–Tororo Highway.

 

The incident occurred at approximately 06:30am in Namayemba Town Council, Bugiri District. It involved a Novus truck, Reg. No. KBW160Z/ZC4479 and a Bajaj Motorcycle Reg. No. UEM546E.

 

ASP Kasadha Micheal the Busoga East Regional Police Spokesperson said the deceased has been identified as Oburu Micheal, 46, a resident Namayemba Central B, Namayemba Town Council in Bugiri district.

 

Both the motor vehicle and the motorcycle were traveling in the same direction along the Iganga–Tororo Highway.

 

The motorcycle was moving on the road shoulder when the rider suddenly crossed into the path of the oncoming truck. The truck subsequently struck the motorcycle. The rider sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

The body of the deceased has been conveyed to Bugiri Main Hospital mortuary pending post-mortem examination.

 

Both the motor vehicle and motorcycle have been towed and parked at Bugiri Police Station yard pending inspection.

 

Police appealed to all road users, especially motorcyclists and truck drivers, to exercise maximum caution, avoid sudden maneuvers, and observe traffic rules. Motorcyclists are reminded to avoid riding on shoulders and to cross roads only when it is safe.
