Two NRM officials in Yumbe District have been arrested over alleged misappropriation of Shs345.25 million meant for party mobilization activities.

According to the North West Nile Regional Police Spokesperson, SP Collins Asea, the suspects are the Yumbe District NRM Chairperson and the district NRM Administrator.

Police allege that the suspects were allocated UGX 345,250,000 to facilitate NRM mobilization activities, including Local Council elections, Women’s Council activities, and Barazas across all 26 sub-counties in Yumbe District.

Asea said preliminary investigations indicate that some beneficiaries allegedly received less money than they were entitled to, including UGX 50,000 for flag bearers and UGX 100,000 for Barazas.

The case was registered under reference YUMBE GEF 011/2026.

Police have recorded statements from the suspects, who remain in custody to assist with ongoing investigations.
