JUST IN: Three Perish In Kakira Road Crash Along Jinja-Iganga Highway

Three people have been confirmed dead and 11 others injured following a road crash in Kakira along the Jinja–Iganga Highway on Wednesday 6th August 2026.

 

The accident involved a passenger drone, registration UA 130CY, carrying traders from Napia Market in Jinja City from Tororo which collided head-on with a Fuso truck whose Registration Number was not readily available. The truck driver fled the scene immediately after the crash.

 

Kiira regional Police spokesperson, SP James Mubi said the deceased include two adults and one juvenile, whose identities had not been established by press time.

 

Those injured include Bashir Mugere 20, Julius Athieno 29, Nasib Mutamba, Latif Wandera 41, Robert Ssewakiryanga 30, Joshua Munabi 48 and Prossy Bayiga 49 who were rushed to Jinja Regional referral Hospital for further management.

 

The dead were transferred to Jinja regional referral Hospital Morgue.

 

Police urged motorists to adhere to traffic rules while on the road to avert road carnage that continues to claim lives on a daily basis.

 

“Our Highway Police is on the alert and will not hesitate to arrest reckless drivers, drunk drivers as well as Highway robbers along Ugandan roads.” Said SP Mubi.
