Residents of Kyomya Sub-county in Kiboga District are still living in disbelief after a casual labourer allegedly killed his employer over unpaid wages and later dragged the deceased’s wife to the LC1 chairperson’s home demanding his pay.
According to SSP Lameck Kigozi, the Public Relations Officer for Wamala Region, the incident occurred on 6th August 2026 in Kyomya B Village, Kyomya Sub-county.
Police identified the suspect as Fabulisi, a Burundian national, and the deceased as Golooba Akiram, 22.
Kigozi says it is alleged that Fabulisi attacked Akiram in his garden where he was preparing logs with his wife, Naggawa Gloria, for burning charcoal.
“The suspect pulled out a panga and charged at his victim shouting _‘Bwotampa sente zange ninkutema’_ — ‘if you don’t give me my money, I will cut you,’” SSP Kigozi said.
He cut the victim in the neck. Akiram fell down and bled profusely. After the attack, the suspect reportedly grabbed the victim’s wife and dragged her to the village chairperson’s home, still demanding his money.
Mr. Muwonge Sulaiman, the LC1 Chairperson of Kyomya B, reported the matter to Kyomya Sub-county Police Station. The case was later forwarded to Bukomero Police Station and a team of detectives was dispatched to the scene.
The body was found lying on its stomach in a pool of blood, approximately 15 meters from the primary scene. A panga with suspected dry blood stains, which was recovered as an exhibit.
The suspect, who had been working as a casual labourer for the deceased and had been residing in the village for a year, was arrested. He is currently in police detention at Bukomero Police Station.
The case was registered under *Bukomero CRB 142/2026* and investigations are ongoing.
SSP Kigozi cautioned the public to be careful when hiring casual workers whose backgrounds are not known.
He also urged employers to adhere to timely payment. “I refer all bosses of casual labourers to Deuteronomy 24:15 as the most appropriate way to stay in peace with them. If it is not possible, communicate on time,” he said.
