The Kiira Regional Police Command has teamed up with UNIFI Uganda, an international credit institution to support the ongoing IGP Tournament Cup 2026, with officials saying the partnership is boosting morale and unity within the force.
According to SSP Charles Nsaba, the Regional Police Commander for Kiira, the collaboration reflects top management’s commitment under IGP Mr. Abas Byakagaba to ensure a successful and memorable sporting season.
The 3rd edition of the IGP Tournament Cup kicked off on August 1. The first round runs until August 29, after which teams will take a one-month recess before the second round resumes.
The tournament draws participants from all policing districts, divisions, specialized units, and directorates. Teams are clustered into 8 administrative groups countrywide. Kiira Region falls under the Eastern cluster and comprises three divisions: Kiira Central (CPS Jinja), Kiira East (Kakira), and Kiira North (Buwenge).
The opening match in Kiira Region saw *Kiira North lose 0-3 to Kiira Central*. In the second game, Kiira North was again defeated 0-3 by Kiira East.
Kiira Central and Kiira East are currently tied at the top of the table with 3 points each and a +3 goal difference. Kiira North sits bottom with 0 points and a -6 goal difference.
The final first-round game is set for Saturday, August 29, when Kiira Central will travel to Kakira grounds to face Kiira East* in a derby that will determine who tops the group.
Speaking on Thursday, SSP Andrew Muzira, Head of HR for Kiira Region, said the tournament continues to promote teamwork, physical fitness, discipline, resilience, fair play, and camaraderie within the force.
He credited part of the tournament’s progress to the partnership with *UNIFI Uganda*, an international credit institution with over 20 branches in Uganda.
On August 20, the RPC received three sets of jerseys donated by UNIFI Uganda for the three Kiira teams. SSP Nsaba expressed gratitude to UNIFI for rallying behind the IGP Cup.
UNIFI Uganda says it offers benefits such as flexible repayment terms, fair interest rates, fast money, and minimal paperwork.
