The State House Anti-Corruption Unit has arrested five Kisoro District Local Government officials, including the District Speaker and the Chairperson of the District Service Commission (DSC).
The five were arrested on Friday, 21st August over allegations of soliciting and receiving money from job applicants in exchange for purported assistance in securing employment.
Those detained are: Hakizimana Amos – District Speaker, Nshaka Erastus – DSC Chairperson, Turamuhawe Richard – DSC Member, Mfitumukiza John – District Councillor and Muhanika Alphonse – Alleged/broker middleman.
Two other suspects including Francesca Mugisha, the Secretary DSC and one Matata Alex, a teacher and middleman are on the run.
Preliminary findings indicate that between October and December 2025, the suspects, together with others still at large, allegedly solicited and received approximately Shs200 million from various job applicants.
Investigations are in advanced stages and upon completion, the suspects are expected to be charged before the Anti-Corruption Court with Corruption related charges.
The State House Anti-corruption Unit encourages members of the public to report any additional cases in which they were allegedly asked to or did pay money to the suspects or any other individuals in connection with securing jobs in the district.
