An LC1 Chairperson in Mukono district has been arraigned before court on several counts of land-related crimes and other offences and remanded until 26 August 2026.
Muwonge Muhammed, Chairperson of Luwunga Village Chairman and a one Ssozi Abdalla appeared before the Mukono Magistrates Court today, Monday, 24th August, 2026.
According to the State House Anti-Corruption Unit that carried out the investigations, the duo between October and November 2025, in Luwunga Village, Nama Sub-county, Mukono District, allegedly forcibly entered land comprised in Block 167, Plot 81, Kyaggwe.
The land, which measures approximately 311 acres, is registered in the name of Kiwanuka Stella, as the administrator of the estate of the late Kiwanuka Joseph Musanze.
Ssozi allegedly identified himself as the owner of the disputed land and, together with Muhammed, the LC1 Chairman, forged sale agreements that were issued to some of the victims. The duo joins notorious land grabbers Kayongo Bonniface and Kiseka Hamuza, who were earlier charged and remanded over similar allegations.
The accused allegedly stole property belonging to several occupants on the land, including metallic water tanks and water pumping machines, and caused extensive damage to houses.
They also uprooted and destroyed crops, including maize, cassava, sweet potatoes, sugar cane, tomatoes, banana plantations, and eucalyptus trees, collectively valued at approximately Shs1 billion.
