The Emyooga National Coordinator, Rita Namuwenge, on Tuesday, 1st September, 2026 announced a ban on money transactions on the Northern Division Veterans Emyooga SACCO account until new membership has been put in place and members have reorganized themselves.

She made the pronouncement during a meeting between veterans under the Northern City Division SACCO and national Emyooga leaders.

Northern City Division Veterans Emyooga SACCO members were disorganized, with some members accusing the executive of mixing Mbale City members with those of Mbale District, which has brought conflicts.

In her speech, Rita said that if they are not organized, they may miss out on other funds that the government has released and is about to give to SACCOs.

She said the government has directed religious leaders, students who have been at home for three years and above, and cultural leaders to form SACCOs so that they can be considered for funding during the next phase of money disbursement.

Namuwenge told the executive of Northern Division Veterans Emyooga SACCO to verify names and submit them to the Resident City Commissioner’s office so that she can pick them from there before lifting the ban on the SACCO.

Alfred Chebet, the Northern City Division Assistant Resident City Commissioner, urged the veterans to reorganize themselves and resolve those minor issues so that they can get the money.

He said veterans of Mbale City cannot be mixed with those of Mbale District, yet both the city and the district receive separate funds.
