Three people and a High Court Judge were injured in a serious crash at Kiryoro along the Pallisa-Tirinyi road in Kibuku District.

The crash occurred on 13th September 2026 at around 8:30 PM and was reported by No. 27297 H/C Eriebu Moses, a police officer attached to CPS Kibuku and resident of Tirinyi police barracks, at 11:50 PM.

According to Wilfred Kyempasa, the Bukedi North region police spokesperson, the accident involved motor vehicle registration number UA 816CE, a blue Mitsubishi Fuso whose driver is unknown, and motor vehicle UG 2500149, a grey Toyota Prado driven by Kaziba Godfrey, 56, a resident of Kira, Wakiso District.

He says that a Mercedes Benz trailer registration number UBA 966I / UBA 329Q had developed a mechanical problem and was parked covering one lane of the road facing Pallisa without any warning signs.

Meanwhile, motor vehicle UG 2500149 was coming from Tirinyi heading towards Pallisa. When it reached the parked trailer, it swerved to the right side of the road to proceed, but there was an oncoming Fuso loaded with scrap heading towards Tirinyi, leading to a collision. The Fuso overturned while the Prado ended up in the trench.

The victims have been identified as: Lady Justice Mary Kaitesi, 52, of High Court Mukono, who was a passenger in UG 2500149, Cpl Makirwoth Pamela, bodyguard to the judge and the driver of the Fuso whose identity is not yet established.

Police actions included visiting the scene by S.O Natumanya, OC Station Kibuku, ASP Kajera, OC Station Tirinyi Police Station and a team of traffic officers. The involved motor vehicles were towed and parked at Tirinyi Police Station pending inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles. The trailer was also towed to a safe parking to avoid another accident and warning signs were displayed. A sketch plan was drawn and photos taken.

The victims are receiving treatment at an undisclosed health facility meanwhile, the type of collision was a side swipe, suspected to have been caused by wrong parking by the trailer driver.
