The Inspectorate of Government has arrested Kakumiro District Local Government Chairperson Joseph Sentayi over alleged abuse of office and neglect of duty.
Sentayi was arrested on Friday, 25th September, 2026 together with District Engineer Eng. Robert Mukabya, and his Assistant Eng. Stephen Twesige.
The arrests follow investigations into the alleged irregular handling of Government vehicle UG 3452R. Sentayi is alleged to have taken the vehicle to a private garage in Kampala for repairs without following prescribed procurement procedures. The vehicle was reportedly abandoned at the garage in March 2025, with the service provider’s charges allegedly remaining unpaid.
Sentayi was later reportedly allocated another Government vehicle, UG 3400082, while the earlier vehicle remained at the garage. He is also alleged to have been using a personal driver.
The IGG also arrested Baguma David, the driver, over alleged illegal possession of Government property. The suspects were detained at Hoima Central Police Station pending being charged in court.
