The Police in Iganga are investigating a case of aggravated robbery and kidnapping that occurred on Thursday 1st October 2026 at about 1700hrs at Kigulu Trading Centre, Bukaye Parish, Nakalama Sub-County, Iganga District.

The victims are two workers of Kombucha Drinks, Iganga Branch identified as, Waiswa Ddamulira, 40, driver, and Twinamasiko Kenneth, 32, Salesman.

It is alleged that the two had moved to supply drinks in Kaliro, Bulumba and Buyuge in their company vehicle Reg No. UA 126DJ white Toyota Hiace and had collected sales amounting to UGX 5,510,000.

While returning to their base at Kigulu at around 5:00PM, they were intercepted by five armed assailants moving in a white Toyota Wish. Two of the assailants were in civilian clothes with URA reflector jackets and three were dressed in UPDF-like uniform, armed with a rifle.

Busoga East Regional police spokesperson, ASP Kasadha Michael says the victims were forced out of their company vehicle, bundled into the Toyota Wish and driven towards Mayuge direction.

The suspects robbed them of UGX 5,510,000/= sales cash, One Samsung smartphone, One Itel phone, One ATM Card and National ID.

The victims were later dumped in Mayuge District and they managed to report. Their company vehicle was abandoned at the scene and has been secured by police.

Kasadha says intelligence teams in Iganga, Mayuge, Bugiri and Namutumba have been alerted to track the Toyota Wish and establish possible linkage with similar recent incidents in the region.

Police noted with concern the re-emergence of highway robberies targeting business people using similar modus operandi – Toyota Wish, military-like attire and interception on highways.

“We assure the public and business community that we have stepped up operations including snap checks at Magamaga, Nakalama, Mayuge and Bugiri, deployment of motorcycle patrol squads and quick response teams on highways.” Said ASP Kasadha.
