A school canteen attendant has stoned a student to death in Kassanda District and has been arrested as police take on investigations.
A report was made on Wednesday, 7th October 2026, at 1:30PM by Mr. Luyima Emmanuel of the murder of his student Ssemiyingo Ronald, aged 20 years, in Senior Three, at Kassanda Police Station.
Lameck Kigozi, the police spokesperson Wamala region says on 5th October 2026 at 7:00AM at Bright Way Secondary School in Kyamasansa Village, Kassanda Sub-county, Kassanda District, Namutebi Resty, a canteen attendant on the school premises, had a confrontation with another student.
He says she picked a stone and threw it at the student, but she missed her target and the stone hit Ssemiyingo Ronald on the head, injuring him seriously.
The victim was given first aid at the school before being rushed to Red Rose Hospital for further medical attention.
On arrival, he was pronounced dead, thus the incident turned fatal. On receipt of the complaint, the scene of crime was visited by a homicide team from Kassanda District.
Statements of witnesses have been recorded and the suspect, has been arrested.
Further investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances under which the deceased was struck with a stone, including the exact cause of death.
