His Royal Highness Papa Emorimor Paulo Sande Emolot Etomeileng III, the cultural leader of the Iteso Cultural Institution, has called for unity amongst the Iteso people of Uganda and Kenya.

He made the remarks today, Friday, while speaking to hundreds of Iteso people at Alupe University in Busia Municipality, Busia County in Kenya, during the launch of a symposium organized by Alupe University Kenya.

The launch is one of the activities the cultural institution is undertaking ahead of the anniversary coronation function of the Emorimor tomorrow, Saturday, on Iteso land in Kenya.

In his remarks, Emorimor said that the Teso people of Uganda and Kenya are the same but were divided by colonialists, meaning nothing should separate them since they are one people.

He said unity and working together can promote development and strengthen unity amongst the two East African countries.

Emorimor also urged universities from Uganda, Kenya and East Africa to prioritize science and technology as the main driver to transform East Africa.

Amb. David Emoot, Minister for Information at the Iteso Cultural Institution, said the anniversary has brought together a number of kings and cultural leaders both from Uganda and the diaspora who have come to witness.

He said they are going to use the opportunity to lobby for investment in Teso land in Kenya and Uganda so that both communities can develop.

Prof. Margaret Orina, Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Academic, Research and Student Affairs at Alupe University Kenya, said the university is particularly focused on science.

She said the symposium is going to help the university in promoting research, business, and the university in Kenya and East Africa at large.
