Police in Ibanda District have launched a manhunt for Agaba Alex, 25, a resident of Kakyindo Cell, Irimya Parish, Kicuzi Sub-County, in connection with the alleged murder of Masereka Didas, 35, a casual labourer and resident of the same area.

The incident was reported on 31 October 2026 at approximately 7:00AM, after local residents discovered the deceased’s naked body lying by the roadside. They immediately alerted the LC I Chairperson of Kakyindo Cell, who subsequently reported the matter to Kicuzi Sub-County Police Station.

Upon receiving the report, a team of police officers from Kicuzi Sub-County Police Station and Ibanda Central Police Station, accompanied by the Scene of Crime Officer (SOCO) and the Canine Unit, visited and examined the scene.

Following an assessment of the scene, which had been adequately preserved for canine operations, K9 dog DONATELLA picked up a scent and began tracking it, leading the officers to the residence of the suspected assailant, Agaba Alex.

The suspect was reportedly not at home and is believed to have fled into Queen Elizabeth National Park.

The canine subsequently entered the suspect’s house and led the officers to his bedroom, where clothes bearing suspected bloodstains were recovered as potential exhibits to aid investigations.

Meanwhile, the deceased’s body was conveyed to Ruhoko Health Centre IV for a postmortem examination to establish the cause of death.

The manhunt for the suspect is ongoing as investigations continue.
