May 29th Updates: Covid-19 Cases Surge with 34 More Cases Registered In Mbale

Latest MOH Covid 19 update

The Ministry of Health has released results ensuing from Saturday 29th May 2021 Covid 19 tests countrywide. The update shows that the second wave is spreading faster than the first wave variant.

 

From the total tests done covering contacts and alert cases, 521 were found positive. Of these, 392 are from Kampala, Mbale (34) Wakiso (38) Luwero (16) Mbarara (13) Kaabong (7) Pader (5) Kabarole (3) Moroto (2) Adjumani (2) Nakasongola (1) Tororo (2) Mukono (1) Jinja (3) Mpigi (1) Maracha (1).

3 Truck Drivers tested positive at Mutukula Point of entry.

 

Tests done the previous day, Friday 28th May 2021 confirmed 690 cases out of 5,166 samples with Kampala still in the lead with the breakdown as follows;

 

686 contacts and Alerts: Kampala (415) Wakiso (88) Moroto (49) Tororo (25) Busia (4) Luwero (10) Moyo (9) Kalungu (8) Mbarara (9) Yumbe (8) Kibuku (8) Iganga (6) Sironko (5) Arua (5) Mbale (5) Jinja (3) Mukono (3) Kapchorwa (2) Masaka (2) Napak (2) Dokolo (2) Adjumani (1) Kabale (1) Kyotera (1) Nakasongola (1) Bugiri (1) Butaleja (1) Bukwo (2) Bududa (1).

 

On Friday, 4 Truck Drivers tested positive with two at Malaba Point of entry, Elegu PoE (1) and Mutukula PoE (1).

 

In a space of 24 hours, the number of Active and admitted cases rose from 364 as of Friday 28th to 434 the next day. This is an increase of 70 cases.

 

The Ministry of Health has also revealed that over 60 health workers have been infected with COVID-19 in the last one month.

Vaccination site ready at Kololo Independence Grounds

Meanwhile, Covid 19 vaccination has been shifted from the Ministry of Health Headquarters to Kololo Independence Grounds effective today 31st May 2021. The exercise will be kicking off at 9AM and end at 5PM every working day.
