Police in Butaleja is holding five people in connection with the murder of a 59 year old woman.
The deceased was identified as Hamba Miria, a resident of Hanjehe in Butaleja Town Council.
Efforts to get a comment from the District Police Commander (DPC) Muyanja Robert were futile.
However the LC1 chairman Mufumia, Hamia said the suspects were arrested and handed to Police after a clan meeting which was convened by the deceased’s clan leader Wilberforce Mwima Gaga.
Before the gruesome incident, the deceased had sold her land however while on her way to fetch water, she fell in the suspects trap and was murdered.
The body was taken for postmortem in Mbale Regional Referral Hospital where reports showed that some body parts like the tongue were missing.
This did not go well with the villagers and the deceased’s clan members who immediately convened a clan meeting after they got suspicious of some people.
According to Mwima, the suspects are Mugero Yokosofati, Faziri Magoola, Kabasa Munaaba, Bonney Yokosofati and Nuume Kitunzi all residents of Hanjehe in Butaleja Town council.
