BUSIA
There are Six (6) Sub Counties in Busia District that have failed to produce a single beneficiary of Parish Development Model funds this Financial Year, 2022/23.
This was revealed by Moses Mangeni, the District Communications Officer on Monday, 15th May, 2023 during an exclusive interview with our reporter at his office in Busia Municipality.
The six Sub Counties are Sikuda, Majanji, Lunyo, Namungodi town council, Buhehe, and Busime.
He attributed this unfortunate incident to some errors encountered during data entrance by the technical staff while others were caused by individuals who didn’t possess identity cards, others had their NIN numbers mismatching, and others had their names being misquoted.
On a good note however, the number of Parish Development Model beneficiaries who have accessed the funds in Busia District has reached 121.
He stated that, President Yoweri K. Museveni wrote to the Chief Administrative Officer- Busia, directing that before the end of this current financial year, 2022/23, over 10,000 beneficiaries must have received the funds which amounts to shs1 billion.
He says this is the main reason why all stakeholders at the district, among them sub county chiefs, parish chiefs, community development officers and others are working hand in hand to enable the implementation of the President’s directive.
He has called upon people who are applying for loans under their SACCOS to remain calm because they will get money as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, he applauded officers from Busitema sub-county, Buyanga, Dabani, Tira town council among others for having worked tirelessly to enable the beneficiaries access their loans for their enterprises, he also appealed to other parish chiefs to make sure that they work on those forms so that entitled households get their loans in time.
